Here are some things you might find usefulThese devices take whatever cell phone signal they can receive with the outdoor antenna and rebroadcast it from the included indoor antenna. - this means if it can get 2 bars on the very top of your roof the MOST you will get on your phone is 2 bars. These kind of units cannot provide more signal available at your location, they take what they can get from the outdoor antenna and transmit it inside the house with the inside antenna. There is a display on the "boost" unit that shows you how many bars it is receiving, it's important to try a bunch of possible mounting locations where your cable will reach to find the best place to mount your outdoor antenna. Important - while you are doing this Do Not attach the indoor antenna to the unit, it interferes with the outdoor antenna. The bars on your unit are not the same as the bars on your phone, there is "overhead" moving the signal from your roof to where you are in the house. If you get 4 bars on your unit you MIGHT get 4 bars on your phone but most likely it will be 1-2 lessPlacement of your indoor antenna is as important as your outdoor antenna. Your goal is to place it as far from your outdoor antenna as you can while still facing it towards the area where you want the best reception (like the living room). If the inside antenna is too close or is directed at the outdoor antenna it will degrade the performance of the system significantly. The inside antenna is directional, it shoots the signal the way it's facingI have T-Mobile there is one tower 2.7 miles away (I knot this from a web site called AntennaSearch) but the signal has a hard time getting to the back of our house 1 - 2 bars but outside the front right corner of the house (in the direction of the tower) I could get 4-5 bars on my phone. I place the outside antenna there, the booster sees 5 bars, I run the cable through my garage where it can be plugged in drill a hole in the laundry room wall and mount the inside unit facing the living room with only 1 inside wall or door between us and the inside antenna. My wife gets 4 bars I get 5.This was a situation that is perfect for a signal booster so we had very good results. I had to do a lot of trial and error to work this out I hope it saves someone else some time
